Mayor Eamonn Maloney on behalf of he Members of South Dublin County Council will officially launch the Glenville Art Group exhibition of paintings in the Concourse, County Hall, Tallaght on Monday 4th December 2006 at 7pm .
The thirty members of Glenville Art Group who have been painting together for over eighteen years meet in Glenville Pitch and Put Club every Thursday night during the winter months. Many of the members of the art group are also members of the Pitch and Putt Club including Ann Kelly the newly elected lady captain, who will be exhibiting some of her paintings in the 2006 exhibition. For some members, painting and artwork is a hobby recently discovered. Others may have studied art and art history as subjects in school and others still, have attended courses under various tutors and artists.
This exhibition which is part of South Dublin County Councils annual visual arts programme, presents an opportunity to recognize, encourage and promote creativity at all levels in the county. The arts play an important role in contributing to the quality of life of participants and to maintaining a vibrant cultural life within the county.
The exhibition runs from Monday 4th to 8th December 2006 in County Hall, Tallaght. For further information contact Colette Ryan, Arts Office, South Dublin County Council at 4149000 ext 3350. The exhibition is open to the public from 9am to 5pm, Monday-Thursday and 9am 4.30pm on Friday.
