Mayor Eamonn Maloney on behalf of the Members of South Dublin County Council presents the Social Inclusion Slogo Competition Awards Ceremony on Wednesday 22nd November 2006

At 7.00 pm in

County Hall Tallaght

Social Inclusion is a series of positive actions to ensure everyone has an equal chance to take up different services. It supports all people to participate in their local community and environment and it is about being aware of and challenging forms of discrimination.

2006 is the fourth year that a Social Inclusion Awareness Week has been held in South Dublin County and the Slogo Competition Awards is one of the highlights of Social Inclusion Week.

The idea behind the competition was to raise awareness and enhance understanding of some of the issues around poverty and inequality in our society. It was to give everybody the opportunity to develop their leaning experience through working on an artistic symbolic interpretation of the concept of social inclusion. It was to be considered under the themes of equality, quality of life for all and access to opportunity. All these themes have been portrayed in the entries that have been submitted and it shows that social inclusion means something different to everybody.

The art work has been on display for the last week in County Hall and has been greatly admired by staff and visitors to South Dublin County Council.
