Fettercairn receives award in All Ireland Pride of Place competition.
The Pride of Place competition is an annual All-Ireland 32 County competition which recognises improvements by local communities to create civic pride in their areas. The competition focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their area.
This year South Dublin County Council promoted two entries in the competition, Fettercairn Estate Management Programme and Castle Park/Castle Lawns Estate Management, Tallaght. The Council is delighted to announce that from over 100 entries Fettercairn was awarded the runners up placing in their category. This is the first time that an area from South Dublin County has received an award in the competition.
The Fettercairn Estate Management entry included the provision of a training course involving horticulture, composting and environmental awareness and a series of practical hands on work in communal gardening areas.
The Awards ceremony was held in Tullow Co Carlow on Saturday the 14th October and the Mayor of South Dublin County, Councillor Eamonn Maloney was present to congratulate the community in Fettercairn for their efforts and their achievement. He stated It is a great honour to be recognised in an all island competition. The selection of entries is impressive and I commend the people of Fettercairn who were involved in this project and the Council who supported them. This award recognises the establishment of a vibrant community with a sense of place and pride.
