A Magical Celebration - Hallowfest 2006
A magical celebration of South Dublin County, Hallowfest 2006, launched today Thursday 5th October at 11am in the South Dublin County Council office, followed by a photo shoot in the National Childrens Hospital, Tallaght. South Dublin County Tourism Board have teamed up with the NCH as their chosen charity for the festival which will take place on October bank-holiday weekend with a fun packed programme of activities for all the family.
Hallowfest is the brainchild of the South Dublin County Tourism Board created to attract visitors to the county to celebrate the magic of Halloween. When asked about the festival; South Dublin County Tourism Executive, Marguerite Osborne said, the festival will grow to an annual international event and it will be a great showcase for the county attracting visitors from home and abroad, our objective is to promote South Dublin County as a great place to visit.
The main event of the weekend takes place in the grounds of the South Dublin County Council offices at County Hall, Tallaght on Sunday 29th October. It promises to be a fun filled afternoon for all the family with traditional games, childrens parade, make & do workshops, circus workshops, jugglers, clowns, face painters and a specialty act. The afternoon will finish with a spectacular display of fireworks, lighting up the South Dublin County skies, sponsored by South Dublin Chamber. There will be many more events taking place throughout the county from Thursday 26th through to Halloween night Tuesday 31st. For example on Monday 30th there will be a Guided Family Nature Walk and a Hellfire Club Walk to name but a few.
The National Childrens Hospital hopes to benefit from the main event, which will act as a fundraiser for the hospital. There will be a collection on the day and all donations are welcome. Conor Byrne, Fundraising Director, NCH said, We are delighted to be the chosen charity for this major event. The National Childrens Hospital, Tallaght, understands the importance of bringing fun and magic to childrens lives as it is a vital ingredient for health and happiness.
Hallowfest would not be possible without the support of its sponsors; South Dublin County Council, Rural Dublin LEADER, South Dublin County Council, Dublin Tourism, Coillte, and South Dublin Chamber who were very keen to be part of this great event.
