32 Teams from around the world compete in the GAA All-Ireland Junior Club Football Sevens in Tymon Park

CLG Naomh Jude GAA are delighted to host the GAA All Ireland Junior Club Football Sevens event on September 17th. Players, officials and spectators from across Ireland, UK, the Middle East and beyond descend on South Dublin County for the All Ireland Junior Sevens Football Tournament. The 32 teams will participate across six pitches in Tymon Park, Templeogue, Dublin 6w at 10.30am on Saturday the 17th of September, 2016.

CLG Naomh Jude were approved a grant from South Dublin County Council under the Community Tourism Diaspora Initiative. The project, run in association with Fáilte Ireland and IPB Insurance, is aimed at providing support to community based events that involve overseas visitors in order to carry through the legacy of The Gathering in 2013 and beyond. It is also aimed at fostering the growth of strong county Diaspora networks on the basis that Diaspora relationships are rooted in ‘people and place’.

“Following the success of our involvement in The Gathering in 2013 our event has expanded from an Irish base to a worldwide one. The funding from the Diaspora Initiative has enabled us to properly plan, promote and carry out an even bigger and more exciting event, also allowing us to strengthen our Diaspora roots” enthuses Sean O’Sullivan, PRO and Chairman of CLG Naomh Jude Sevens Committee”

Since its launch in 2014, seven community based events have been supported locally bringing over 2,000 overseas visitors to South Dublin County. In 2016 nine community groups have been evaluated and approved for funding with over 4,700 overseas visitors expected.
