Culture Night South Dublin County 2016 - Friday 16th September
Following the success of Culture Night 2015, South Dublin County are delighted to announce our participation in this year’s event.
Culture Night is a night to explore, experience and enjoy culture in all its forms in Dublin and across 30 towns, cities and counties in Ireland.
This year in South Dublin County many of our arts and cultural organisations will open their doors until late, hosting free events, tours, talks and performances for you, your family and friends to enjoy. In Tallaght

Fortune’s fool Productions presents Bite Size Shakespeare. A short presentation of some of Shakespeare’s best known monologues and a scene or two. This special evening is specifically geared for non-Shakespeare lovers. If you think Shakespeare isn’t for you, give Bite Size Shakespeare 15 minutes to change your mind. Read a sonnet aloud yourself or dress up for a fabulous photo shoot what will be included in a photobook specially commissioned for the night. If you like bring along your favourite book or the book you are currently reading and we can include that too.
Extra brownie points for dressing up as a literary character, whether inspired by Shakespeare or not.

Civic Theatre
Enjoy a unique screening of "The Bloody Irish!" – a fabulous new musical drama on the 1916 Rising. Experience Candlelit Tales vivid re-telling of the Táin accompanied on guitar and mandolin. Come along and share the writings of Patrick Pearse with actors Bryan Murray, Una Crawford O’Brien and harpist Mary O’Donnell.

Fortunes Wheel brings to life the remarkable, implausible story of a Fairview lion-tamer in Dublin in the 1950s. Bill Stephens was an ordinary young Dubliner, with an extraordinary dream-to become a skilled animal trainer and a big circus star. The dream became a reality for him & a nightmare for the people of Fairview when one of his lions escaped onto crowded streets in 1951. Winner of the Dublin Film Critics Circle Award for Best Irish Documentary at the Jameson Film Festival 2015. This will be followed by a short Q. & A. with Film-maker Joe Lee
