South Dublin County Council Environmental Poster Competition 2015 – Award Ceremony
3rd March 2015
The South Dublin County Environmental Poster Completion 2015 focused this year on Anti-Dog Litter and Anti-Gum Litter themes as the Council receives in excess of 20 complaints each month in relation to dog fouling and gum litter.
Speaking on behalf of the Mayor at the presentation of awards for the competition, which is now in its 11th year, Councillor Mick Duff congratulated all students who participated in the competition, especially the winners, and referred to the problems associated with dog fouling and gum litter.
“Gum litter is extremely difficult and expensive to remove and results in black spots all over our beautiful new paving and walkways. Dog fouling spoils the enjoyment of our footpaths and parks, as well as having potentially very serious health risks. Unfortunately the negative actions of a few are having huge negative experiences for many, and I am very grateful to the students for participating in this very worthy competition which highlighted these problems”, said Councillor Duff.
South Dublin County Council stated that it delighted with the winning posters. They have been professionally printed and are now being distributed to all public buildings, libraries and schools in the county. Well done again to the winners!
