St Bernadette’s JNS, Quarryvale, Clondalkin  Raising their 2nd Green Flag for Energy

The Mayor, Fintan Warfield congratulated St Bernadette’s JNS, Quarryvale, Clondalkin on receiving their Green Schools Flag for Energy as part of the Green Schools Programme supported by South Dublin County Council and An Taisce.

The Mayor, said “It takes hard work and cooperation from all members of the school to achieve this flag. Saving energy is helpful to the environment and to your budget. We must all play our part to protect the environment and the Green Schools Programme teaches us to do that.

St Bernadette’s JNS showed that with commitment and encouragement, it is possible to make a difference. The school has achieved savings in the cost of the electricity they used while at the same time teaching the students and the wider school community that making small changes can make a big difference. John Mooney and Vivion Powney were in attendance to represent Glanmore Foods who sponsored the purchase of the flag poles.

The Mayor continued “It is great to see such enthusiasm in the faces of the students as they raise their 1st & 2nd green flag - well done to all.”

St Bernadette is one of 10 schools in South Dublin County who received their Energy Flag this year.
