Great increase in Tidy Towns entries in South Dublin County.

 

The results of the 2012 Tidy Towns competition were announced in the Helix on Monday 10th September

 

The number of entries increased from 821 entries last year to 855 in the competition this year. In South Dublin Count,there was the highest number of entries with 4 new entries joining Lucan – Griffeen, Rathfarnham, Palmerstown and Clondalkin.

The entries are made in different population categories

Category C 1,001-   2,500 – Lucan and Griffeen

Category D 2,501 – 5,000 – Rathfarnham and Palmerstown

Category F 10,001- 15,000 – Clondalkin

The Mayor Cathal King has congratulated Tidy Towns groups in the County “I wish to congratulate everyone involved in Tidy Towns in South Dublin. Tidy Towns groups make a real difference to their locality, to the physical place and also in creating a close community and a can do attitude” He said “The results of the competition will help us focus on areas of improvement. I encourage groups in all areas of the County to consider the Tidy Towns programme – it makes a difference.”

Category C                Lucan 283

                                    Griffeen 202

Category D   

                                    Rathfarnham 206

                                    Palmerstown 200

 

Category F                 Clondalkin 202


The TidyTowns competition is organised by the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government and sponsored by SuperValu since 1992.
