EUROPEAN WEEK AGAINST RACISM

ART/POETRY/SHORT STORIES COMPETITION

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

18th APRIL 2012 AT 3.00 PM

SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

On Wednesday 18th April at 3.00 pm in the Council Chamber, County Hall, Tallaght Deputy Mayor Pamela Kearns will present the winners of the European Week against Racism Competition their prizes.

The idea behind this competition was to ask children, young people and adults living here in South Dublin County to convey their own personal message against racism. There were over 300 entries for the competition.

Discrimination, racism, the intolerance of others is borne out of ignorance. Be it in our workplace, our schools, our homes, our clubs a willingness to learn about others and to communicate with others is the key to a successful, fair and open society.  The number of entries we receive from the competition shows that people living in South Dublin believe that is no place for Racism here.

Here in South Dublin County we want to continue developing an inclusive county where everybody has the opportunity to participate and realise their true potential.
