March 22nd is World Water Day highlighting the importance of freshwater and the need for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.

To mark this global event of World Water Day, South Dublin County Council has a number of activities through out the week which are supported by the Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr Caitríona Jones.

Mayor Jones said “the Council is celebrating the week surrounding World Water Day by providing a number of activities to make people aware of how important water is for life. It is a vital natural resource and we need to conserve it. An interactive exhibition “Where does your water go” will be displayed in County Hall for everyone to have fun with, and I know that a Magician and Mr. Water drop will make an appearance in the County Library letting people know about the importance of water conservation.

In addition the Water Conservation Road show will be in the Clondalkin Civic Offices for the week and all schools in the County will be provided with fun information quizzes to work out like “if Tallaght stadium was full of water last how long would this last Tallaght?

The list of events highlighting the importance of water and the need for water conservation is available on the Council’s website www.sdcc.ie
