The Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr. Caitriona Jones has welcomed today’s announcement by Mr. Phil Hogan T.D., Minister for Environment, Community and Local Government that South Dublin County Council will pilot the new ‘Fixyourstreet’ web site.

Fixyourstreetwill be a publicly accessible web site with associated mobile technologies on which non emergency issues such as street lighting, drainage, graffiti, illegal dumping, road and footpath maintenance can be reported. The pilot will run for a period of three months in South Dublin County Council, whereby technologies developed by the Council will be tested in a live working local government environment.

“I am extremely pleased and proud to acknowledge South Dublin County Council’s continued work towards the delivery of quality customer service”, said Mayor Jones. “The Council already provide a range of online customer care facilities, social media presence, and location based services to a quarter of a million people, 90,000 households and over 6,000 businesses through their website www.sdcc.ie .

As part of the pilot phase South Dublin County Council with the support of the Local Government Management Agency will be working with a number of other local authorities on this initiative. This pilot further demonstrates South Dublin County Council’s already proven track record in collaborative working towards improving our citizens’ quality of life”, concluded Mayor Jones.

It is envisaged that reporting of issues to Fixyourstreet will be accepted via the web site, www.fixyourstreet.ie , through email, on twitter and coming shortly mobile phone apps for the most popular mobile platforms, with a commitment that local officials will respond within two working days.  It is also envisaged that residents will be able to monitor the response and interact with their issue once it has been reported through the system.
