New Mayor Elected for South Dublin County 2011
At the Annual Meeting of the County Council held on Friday 24th June, 2011, at County Hall, Tallaght, Councillor Catriona Jones (Lab) was elected Mayor of South Dublin County.
Councillor Caitriona Jones was proposed for Mayor by Councillor Eamon Tuffy (Lab) and was seconded by Councillor Cathal King (SF).
The outgoing Mayor, Councillor Marie Corr thanked her fellow Councillors, Joe Horan, County Manager, Management and Staff of the Council for their help and support during her term in office. Councillor Corr was elected Mayor in March of this year after the presiding Mayor Eamonn Maloney was elected to Dáil Eireann.
Newly elected Mayor Caitriona Jones said ‘I am very honoured to represent the people of South Dublin County and in particular my constituents in Lucan / Palmerston. During my term in office I want to focus on promoting South Dublin County’s identity and achieving better outcomes for the citizens and business community here in South Dublin County through collaborative working between the elected members and our partner agencies’.
Councillor Pamela Kearns (Lab) was elected Deputy Mayor. Deputy Mayor Kearns was proposed by Councillor Marie Corr (Lab) and seconded by Councillor Guss O Connell (Ind).
