South Dublin Chamber appoints Andrea Carroll as Sustainable Business Executive
Green Business Expert to contribute to the sustainable growth of businesses in South Dublin County
South Dublin County, 16th May 2011 – South Dublin Chamber, a business representative body that provides services, representation and networking opportunities to the business community, has appointed Andrea Carroll as its Sustainable Business Executive. Miss Carroll will bring a new depth of understanding of the needs of entrepreneurs and their businesses. Through a range of programmes, run in conjunction with South Dublin County Council, and other national agencies, she will facilitate the sustainable development of businesses in the County.
CEO of South Dublin Chamber, Peter Byrne, commented that "South Dublin Chamber is very pleased to work with South Dublin County Council on promoting sustainable business practices. In Andrea we have an executive who has the knowledge, experience and understanding to lead this programme and offer the business community a valuable service in driving their businesses forward. These are challenging times and South Dublin Chamber is pleased that we can assist our members through this new initiative."
As well as having over 10 years experience working with businesses on environmental and sustainability issues with Louth County Council and Arup Consulting Engineers, Miss Carroll has also been an entrepreneur in her own right. Recently has been active as a director of Arc Sustainability Consulting and lecturer on Ireland’s only Sustainable Business course with NUI Maynooth. As such she brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of the challenges faced by businesses, and in particular SMEs.
Sherri Brennan, owner of Skip Trans and Chamber member, was delighted to see this appointment, commenting that “the initiative taken jointly by South Dublin Chamber & South Dublin County Council in appointing a Sustainable Business Executive demonstrates real commitment to assisting SMEs through this difficult period. I am confident that Andrea’s appointment will only improve the excellence in South Dublin Chamber’s services”.
Miss Carroll is a graduate of UCD, with two Masters Degrees in Geography and Environmental Management. She is also an affiliate of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment. Her role as Sustainable Business Executive is an exciting development for South Dublin Chamber and an added value to the chamber members and businesses in South County Dublin.
