STATEMENT

Ongoing Response to Current Prolonged Adverse Weather Conditions

Met Eireann has advised that the forecast for immediate short term is for sub zero temperatures and further snowfalls.

In response to the above South Dublin County Council can confirm that it will be receiving delivery of further supplies of gritting materials

All eight gritting crews will again be deployed at 7.00 p.m. on the programmed 343Km of roads in the county that constitute our scheduled routes. Tomorrow morning at 5.00 a.m., a further full gritting run will be undertaken.

Road conditions throughout the County require all drivers to exercise extreme care notwithstanding the extensive gritting programme which is under way. The ongoing advice regarding the taking of non-essential journeys remains in place, where it is necessary to undertake journeys drivers should check the weather forecasts prior to departure.

Further updates and additional information is available on the Council’s website: www.sdcc.ie or follow us on twitter at http://twitter.com/sdublincoco/
