See what will be Unwrapped December 4th
Unwrapped is a performance in two parts with both open-air and indoor performances and events. Through a specially made landscape of images, music, performance and dance, it celebrates work created by local artists and groups of all ages. Unwrapped marks the lighting of the Tallaght Christmas Tree by Mayor Eamonn Maloney and takes place in and around Chamber Square, Tallaght.
The event kicks off at 3:30 with the Children’s Book Festival Competition Prize Giving Ceremony
with Mayor Eamonn Maloney and special guests at County Library, Tallaght - Admission Free
Also at the Library at 4pm is The Conor Lambert Custard Pie Puppet Theatre Family Christmas Showfeaturing Frosty the Snowman, Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer and other surprise guests! This is a free event
At 5pm there is an outdoor event for which new art work has been commissioned especially. Animation and Design artist Maeve Clancy has created a film of a woodland world awakening after winter that will be projected onto the exterior wall of RUA RED, South Dublin Arts Centre. Dancers from 6th class of St. Colmcille’s Primary School, Knocklyon will enliven Chamber Square as they create a performance choreographed by Louise Costelloe to music by Michael Fleming and Gerry Horan. All three of these art pieces are combined into a simultaneous performance that will stir us from the cold. Dancers will lead us toward a singing choir and the lighting of the Tallaght Christmas Tree by Mayor Eamonn Maloney. This is a free event.

Join us for special performances of song, dance, music and magic in RUA RED’s Gallery One, including piper Martin Nolan; singer Phil Callery; music and dance of Gandarbha from Nepal; the Tallaght Community School Gamelan Ensemble with Niamh Tiernan; Killinarden Community School Mandolin Ensemble with James Ryan; Animotion Dance Company; Dizzy Footwork Dance Academy; Unison Intercultural Choir, Clondalkin; Sounds Ensemble; plus magic by Brian Daly with Carousel Theatre School, Tallaght Youth Theatre, Encore Performance Group and St. Kilian’s Junior Choir, Kingswood.

8pm Ballet Ireland Presents ‘Romeo & Juliet’
Shakespeare’s tale of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet, is one of the greatest love stories of all time. Against a backdrop of ancient feuds and gang warfare, the ill-fated young couple fall instantly and hopelessly in love. But their families are bitter enemies, and in order to be together the two lovers must be prepared to risk everything...

Unwrapped has been made possible by the support of Mayor Eamonn Maloney and the Members of South Dublin County Council. Additional support has been provided by artist, Eamon Colman, whose exhibition Before the dark gets stronger than the light shows in RUA RED Gallery 1 until December 4th.
