South Dublin Dragons took place on Wednesday 17th November in South Dublin County Council Chambers – this event was organised as part of Innovation Dublin 10th-21st November 2010.
The event organised by South Dublin County Council and Comhairle na nÓg allowed young people to pitch an idea to the South Dublin Dragons in an innovative and creative way. This event affords young people living in South Dublin County to influence what happens in their area. The brave entrepreneurs were requested to come up with realistic, innovative ideas to improve life in their County. Each group or individual was given ten minutes to impress the Dragons. After their presentation the Dragons asked questions about the idea put forward. When all pitches were presented, the Dragons retired to their lair to choose an overall winner based on most innovative idea that was well researched and presented. Ideas such as Environmental projects, Educational, Community Projects were presented. Our Dragons included, Joe Horan County Manager, South Dublin County Council, Sean Gallagher Entrepreneur, of RTE’s Dragon’s Den fame, Sherri Brennan, Chair of the Waste Management Committee of South Dublin Chamber’s Waste Management Group and the Greenogue B2B Network and Brian Corrigan, Director of Regulatory Affairs, Pfizer.
“We were very impressed with the amount of work and level of detail that went in to each presentation. It was very encouraging to see such capable young people presenting in the way they did. I really enjoyed myself and it was a pleasure to be a part of the whole event.” Sherri Brennan, on behalf of the Dragons: South Dublin Dragons allowed young people in South Dublin County an opportunity to showcase their ideas. A big Thank you to the Dragons for volunteering their time at this event, they connected so well with the presenters and their fair but encouraging comments were welcomed by the our young participants. This event would not have been so successful without their involvement.
