Celebrating Volunteerism in South Dublin County

On Tuesday 15th December in County Hall, Tallaght, the Mayor of South Dublin County, Councillor Eamonn Maloney hosted a celebration of volunteerism in the County recognising the contribution made by the voluntary management committees of the many Community Centres in South Dublin County to the recreational, social and cultural life of the County.
Speaking at the event were:
Ms. Alison Blair, Chairperson Knockmitten Community Centre
Ms. Tina Roche, Business in the Community
and Mayor, Councillor Eamonn Maloney.
A presentation was made to all the community centres operating in South Dublin County.
The Mayor in recognising the effort of the volunteers praised the work they carry out day after day in preparing their centres for use by the many organisations and clubs operating in the County. He said ‘your efforts allow more citizens, young and old, to be active in their groups’. The Mayor acknowledged the volunteers present have played a significant role in developing this County and felt assured that they will continue to manage, change and develop these facilities to cater for generations to come.
This celebration takes place during ‘Active Citizenship Week’.
