South Dublin County Council elected a new Mayor, Cllr Eamonn Maloney at the Annual meeting today Friday 25th June, 2010 in the Council Chamber, County Hall, Tallaght.
Mayor Eamonn Maloney was proposed by Councillor Dermot Looney and was seconded by Councillor Guss O' Connell.
The outgoing Mayor Cllr Mick Duff thanked his fellow Councillors, County Manager Joe Horan, Management and staff of the Council for their help and support during his term in office.
The new Mayor Cllr Eamonn Maloney thanked his fellow Councillors. He said " I am honoured to serve as Mayor of South Dublin County. The economic climate is different today than when I last served as Mayor in 2006/2007. I look forward to working with all agencies to promote increased employment in the County and improving the quality of life for all citizens in the County."
Councillor Cathal King was elected Deputy Mayor The Deputy Mayor was proposed by Councillor Sean Crowe and seconded by Councillor Mick Duff.
The following were elected as Chairs of the Area Committees:-
Lucan Clondalkin - Cllr Eamon Tuffy
Tallaght - Cllr Marie Corr
Rathfarnham - Cllr Cáit Keane
