Mayor Mick Duff on behalf of South Dublin County Council will attend the official launch of EVE Cherryfield?s first public Art Exhibition in County Library Tallaght on Thursday 3rd June at 1pm.
EVE Ltd Cherryfield is a community based day service for adults who have experience of mental health problems. Situated on the Walkinstown/Crumlin border the service is accessed by people from a wide geographical area. In Cherryfield the service ethos reflects the EVE Ltd Organisational vision of ?Hope? and ?Recovery?.
Cherryfield are exhibiting their Art as the first step in a reciprocal relationship with the community which they hope to follow up with a public exhibition in their centre. Their hope is that in gaining respect for their unique talents these actions will support them in living productive lives in the local community and to regain their right to full citizenship and the right to participate on an equal basis in the world around them.
The Art programme has supported the aspirations of service users through creative recovery of empowerment.
?I paint for my mental health. It is a lot cheaper than seeing a therapist and a lot more fun? anon
Having won an award in 2009 in the National Art Competition run by Lundbeck a new found confidence has spurred service users to showcase their talents in a community forum. They hope you will support them by attending the exhibition which runs daily from the 1st June to the 25th June.
