“I Remember When” - Grandparents tell their stories.

Following on the success of “Telling Tales” a storytelling initiative with primary school children, the County Library, Tallaght embarked on a similar initiative with the Capacitar group of An Cosan. The CD entitled “I Remember When” was launched at the County Library Tallaght on 25th February 2010.

The members of this group were recorded telling their own stories.  From hilarious to poignant to musical, these stories capture a bygone era, and have been recorded for families and communities. The participants proved themselves natural storytellers responding with enthusiasm and honesty.  Story titles range from ‘Innocent Days’ to the ‘Brendan Boyer fan club’ and record a piece of South Dublin County’s social history.

An Cosan offers grandparents the opportunity to take time out each week to participate in a programme called “Health and Wellbeing, Capacitar practices for Grandparents”.  Capacitar – meaning to empower and to encourage - believes that through nurturing, listening and responding to the deeper wisdom of body and spirit, people can heal and transform themselves, their families and communities.
