Mayor Mick Duff presses the button to identify the 100 lucky customers who won 10 free bin collections in the recent competition for all who registered for the South Dublin County Council’s waste charges system.

Sonya Sivaja from Kiltipper was delighted to hear that she had won TEN free bin lifts from the Council.  She thinks that the new Waste Charges system is "well organised and convenient."

"The new system is good," said another winner, Tracey Gaynor from Cherrywood.  "I used to forget to buy bin tags but now I can buy bin lift credit online without leaving the house. It's really handy."

To avail of South Dublin County Council’s waste collection service, customers must only use the advanced credit system from Monday 1st February.

A new computer system on the bin trucks can identify and record a householder’s bin and deduct the cost of the bin lift from their Waste Charges Account automatically.

A dual system has been in place where you could use bin tags or the new advanced credit system. However from Monday, 1st February only the advanced credit can be used.

John Quinlivan, Environmental Services Department said “We are extending the competition for customers who purchase bin lift credit before the 1st February – 100 people stand to get a free bin lift if they buy bin lift credit this week. The new system comes into operation on Monday and there are distinct advantages for customers – convenience, easy to use and greater security”
