Met Eireann has advised that the forecast for the next 24hrs is for sub zero temperatures and further snowfalls.

In response to the above, South Dublin County Council can confirm that it has received delivery of further supplies of gritting materials and will be carrying out a programme of spot gritting this evening in a number of vulnerable locations identified throughout the County.

Tomorrow morning a full programmed gritting run on the 343 km of roads that constitute our scheduled routes will be undertaken and gritting operations will continue subject to the delivery of adequate supplies of materials.

Road conditions throughout the County require all drivers to exercise extreme care notwithstanding the extensive gritting programme which is under way. The ongoing advice regarding the taking of non-essential journeys remains in place, where it is necessary to undertake journeys drivers should check the weather forecasts prior to departure.
