The Connect School ? St Aidan's Community School in Brookfield, Tallaght welcomes the announcement by the Taoiseach of ?150 million investment in ICT in schools over the coming years.

For the last four years all teachers in St Aidan?s and all first year students were provided with laptops. In 2006 ? 2007 a wireless network was installed throughout the school and data projectors were installed in every classroom. A Virtual Learning Environment using Moodle was developed allowing teachers and students access to subject related material online.? The project is funded by South Dublin County Council and the steering group which supports the project includes the Department of Education, NCTE, IT Tallaght, Dublin West Education Centre, St Aidan?s Community School as well as South Dublin County Council.

??The provision of laptops for teachers and students and the use of data projectors have made a huge difference to the students in St. Aidan?s.? The positive results include increased student engagement and improved attendance. Our teachers are now skilled in the development and use of subject related digital teaching material and this leads to an active learning environment for all. The use of technology in the classroom is the way forward? said Frank Moran, Principal of St Aidan?s Community School.
