Press Release Issued 3rd September 2009
NOISE Flicks 2010
Youth Film Festival & Short Film Competition
What is NOISE Flicks?
NOISE Flicks is a youth film festival initiative of South Dublin County Council that began in March 2009. It is part of the NOISE South Dublin online project and networked NOISE Community of creative young people in South Dublin. www.noisesouthdublin.com
What is the purpose of the festival?
With a focus on film, NOISE Flicks aims to showcase and celebrate the creative talent of young people in South Dublin County, ages 14 to 25. We consult with professional filmmakers and film, tv, and video lecturers to create a festival may assist young people in learning more about and gaining access to the film industry. Awards are also given in two age categories: 14 to 18 and 19 to 25. Last years awards consisted of cash prizes toward masterclasses or film equipment and free use of RUA REDs editing suite.
Who is eligible to participate?
The film competition is open to individual young filmmakers (14 - 25yrs), living or studying in South Dublin County, as well as groups (such as in school, PLC or Third Level colleges or youth services) in South Dublin County. Those submitting to the festival must have at least one member of their group either living or studying in South Dublin County. Films submitted must have been completed after September 2008.
Why do I need to complete an expression of interest form?
Last year was our first year to host NOISE Flicks. The festival was a great success with RUA REDs performance space packed out for film screenings and talks by filmmakers in the industry. This year we aim to promote the festival more widely and we want to ensure that we have the best possible programme and venue available to you. So, we need your help in completing this form.
This information is only for our information so that we have an idea how many people are interested in participating in this years festival. Your information will not be shared.
Please complete the form below and return by post to Victoria Durrer, Youth Arts Coordinator, South Dublin County Council, Community Department, Clondalkin Civic Offices, Clondalkin D22 or email to vdurrer@sdublincoco.ie. Please return by September 30th 2009, at noon.
