PRESS RELEASE ISSUED 17TH JUNE 2009
Update on Tallaght Stadium - 17th July, 2009
South Dublin County Council regrets that because of the preparatory works, it is not possible to host Saturdays match between Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium and we note it has been moved to Tolka Park at 7 pm. We regret the inconvenience caused.
Tallaght Stadium opened in March 2009 with 3,000 seats in its West stand. A further 3,000 seats are currently under construction in its new East stand and will be ready for use by end August 2009. For the Real Madrid game, 7,906 seats are being provided in three additional temporary stands. These seats will be under construction until signing-off on Monday in good time for the Real Madrid fixture. The presence of unfinished stands and construction staff raised serious issues of Health and Safety for both players and fans during the preparation phase.
We look forward to welcoming players and spectators to Tallaght Stadium on Monday 20th July.
