PRESS RELEASE ISSUED 30TH JUNE 2009

Mayor of South Dublin County Mick Duff presents Certificates to the Graduates

of the 2008/2009 Spoirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programmes

On Thursday 2nd July at 6.30pm in County Hall, Tallaght, South Dublin County Council is hosting the graduation ceremony and the presentation of certificates to the Graduates from the 2008/2009 Spóirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programme.

The Spóirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programmes are FÁS Local Training Initiatives, sponsored by South Dublin County Council.

The Spóirt Teic Programme provides training and qualifications in fitness instruction, sports coaching and recreational leadership to young people from the South Dublin County area.

The Sports Flexibility Programme is aimed at early school leavers, providing them with an introduction to sports, health and leisure activities and facilitates them in progressing to a higher level within that industry. The Programme introduces these young people to the discipline of attending a full time course and gives them the confidence to progress their education.

Both Programmes are located in the new Tallaght Leisure Centre which is ideally equipped to provide the high standard of facilities required.

On Thursday 2nd July, 28 Graduates from the 2008/2009 Spóirt Teic Programme will be awarded a wide variety of diplomas and certificates ranging from aerobics and gym instruction to water safety, soccer, GAA football and hurling, basketball and rugby. The 19 Graduates from the Sports Flexibility Programme will also be presented with their various sports certificates.

FÁS is currently recruiting for the 2009/2010 Spóirt Teic and Sports Flexibility Programmes which will commence in September 2009.

All interested applicants should go to their local FAS employment office and register for course BA57A Spóirt Teic or BA64K Sports Flexibility Programmes.
