Mayor Mark Ward presents Community Endeavour Awards 2018

The Community Endeavour Awards took place in the Red Cow Moran’s Hotel on Saturday the 1st of December. Mayor of South Dublin County Council, Cllr Mark Ward, was on hand to present the awards to the winning groups.

The Community Endeavour Awards aim to acknowledge, promote and recognise the work of community and voluntary organisations within the administrative area of South Dublin County Council.

There is an immense richness and variety of voluntary organisations working in South Dublin and this initiative aims to recognise the efforts of those who carry out this valuable work. All community organisations whose activities have made a difference in their community and had a beneficial effect on residents were eligible to enter.

A total of 173 entries were received from a wide variety of groups operating in South Dublin County and these were then assessed by an independent judging panel.

Speaking at the event, Mayor Cllr Mark Ward said, “Tonight as a Council, we give thanks to South Dublin County’s voluntary organisations for their work over the past twelve months. We appreciate their commitment and dedication to making this County a better place to live and work.”

About South Dublin County Council

South Dublin County is one of four local authority areas in the Dublin region.

South Dublin County Council provides and funds a broad range of services including housing, roads, walking and cycling routes, parks and playgrounds, libraries, sports facilities, litter control, arts centres, enterprise units, fire services, community infrastructure and financial supports. It also serves as a platform for local democracy with 40 councillors spread across six electoral areas.

Bounded by the River Liffey to the North and the Dublin Mountains to the South, the County lies 16 kilometres south-west of Dublin city centre and has an administrative footprint of 223sq. kilometres.
