European Week Against Racism

17 March – 25 March

European Week against Racism takes place from 17 March to 25 March. International Day against Racism is on Wednesday 21 March, a day when the people across the globe show their opposition to racism.  This annual event was declared as a memorial by the United Nations in response to the murder of 69 anti-apartheid demonstrators in Sharpeville, South Africa, in 1960.

One of the main objectives of the Council is to facilitate initiatives to promote integration in the County. A willingness to learn about different cultures and to communicate with others is the key to a successful, fair and open society.

Here in South Dublin County we want to continue developing an inclusive county where everybody has the opportunity to participate and realise their true potential.

Everybody is welcome to participate in the European Week against Racism Competition by conveying their own personal message against racism.

Closing date for receipt of entries has been extended to Friday 30 March.

Application forms are available on our website www.sdcc.ie under the events section.

For further information please contact Maria Finn, Social Inclusion Officer, Housing, Social and Community Development, South Dublin County Council. Tel: 086 380 3060 or email mfinn@sdublincoco.ie
