At a Council meeting held on 13th March 2017, South Dublin County Council agreed the introduction of the Road Traffic (Speed Limit) Bye-Laws 2017, which will come into effect on 8th May 2017.

Along with generally reviewing the speed limits on roads throughout the County, the Bye Laws also reduce speed limits in residential areas from 50 km/h to 30 km/h.

The 30km/h speed limit will be implemented in residential areas throughout South County Dublin by the provision of “Slow Zone” signs at the entrance points, thus creating pedestrian friendly areas (zones)
