Mayor Sarah Holland opens the Magical Woodland Fairy Trail at Lucan Demesne
South Dublin County Council joins forces again with The Irish Fairy Door Company to create a magical woodland fairy trail in Lucan Demesne.
On July 16th Lucan Demesne became home to seventeen Woodland Fairies! The interactive fairy trail was officially opened by Mayor Sarah Holland and is the latest new family attraction in Dublin, giving young visitors the opportunity to discover a delightful series of handmade wooden Irish Fairy Doors. Smartphone technology will also let guests find out all about the individual fairies who live behind each door as they explore the trail.
Niamh Sherwin-Barry, Director at The Irish Fairy Door Company says, “The staff in South Dublin County Council have really been on board from the start. With trails in both Corkagh Park and Tymon Park already, we are just thrilled to be sending some more fairies over to Lucan to set up home. Our friends in the SDCC are true believers! We’re proud of the interactive content, which visitors can access from their smartphones whilst enjoying the trail and we know that our beautiful doors will open up a brand new world of imagination for parent and child alike – they provide a beautiful and unique way for adult and child to interact and play through the power of belief and magic, which is absolutely intrinsic in childhood and beyond.”
Alison Silke & Paula Swayne, Sports & Recreation Officers, South Dublin County council added “Physical Activity and play (imaginative play) are two essential parts of a child’s development. We have been able to merge these attributes in partnership with the Irish Fairy Door Company. What better way to spend an afternoon out in the fresh air at no cost with the only limit being your imagination. The Fairies have lots for you to discover and enjoy in Lucan Demesne.”

About The Irish Fairy Door Company
Created by life-long friends Niamh Sherwin Barry and Aoife Lawler, along with their husbands Oisin and Gavin, The Irish Fairy Door Company helps fairies relocate into human homes, classrooms, gardens and woods with its range ofbeautiful Irish fairy doors, which can be installed just about anywhere. Once in place, the creative team at Fairy HQ ensures direct access to Fairy Valley, so the magic continues long after the fairy has moved in – with ongoing magical messages, play ideas and stories delivered to children and parents who register their fairy’s name on the website, via email and an app.
The exquisite fairy doors, which are handmade in Ireland, are available in a variety of colours and styles (RRP €24.95). There are also stunning vinyl decals and add-ons, such as fairy doormats and washing lines with either male or female clothing, available to enhance the fairy home also!
