South Dublin County Council hosts summer of 'History and Heritage' events

South Dublin County Council Libraries and Arts officially launched a programme of heritage events for summer 2015 in Tallaght Stadium on                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        on Tuesday 2nd June 2015.

Running from June to September 2015, the programme celebrates the many historical and heritage sites located throughout the county, as well as offering talks, exhibitions, craft events and interactive workshops.

Speaking about the ‘History and Heritage’ events, the Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr. Fintan Warfield is encouraging South Dublin County residents and visitors alike to:“Immerse yourself in the heritage of South Dublin County this summer with this wonderful programme of events which has something for everyone with guided heritage walks, village festivals, history talks, workshops and exhibitions.”

In total there are over 45 events taking place across the county throughout the summer months – with a range of activities to suit all ages and interests.

  • Slade Valley Heritage Walk – Saturday 8th August 11:00 am
  • Children’s Workshops: Irish History Live: Experience Life in Dublin during the 1916 Rising – County Library, Tallaght (Tuesday 7th July at 12.00pm), Castletymon Library (Tuesday 7th July at 10:00 am) and Ballyroan Library (Tuesday 7th July at 2.30pm) (Booking essential)
