Palmerstown Community Council take possession of Council premises on Manor Road, Palmerstown

South Dublin County Council is delighted to confirm that, today 2nd June 2015, Palmerstown Community Council Ltd. have signed a licence for the use of the former health board premises on Manor Road, Palmerstown for community development purposes. The signing of the licence delivers on one of the key objectives of the community development plan for the Palmerstown area.

The facility will now be brought into community use for the greater Palmerstown community and will meet the needs of the community going forward. In formally signing the licence, the Mayor of South Dublin, Councillor Fintan Warfield, stated that: 

“This is a very important day for the community of Palmerstown and delivers on one of the key objectives of the community development plan for the area.

I know that the Community Council have great plans for the premises and are already working with the Order of Malta to create a base for the delivery of their services in the community.”

Speaking at the signing Chief Executive, Daniel McLoughlin confirmed that the Council’s Community Services Team would be available to assist the Community Council with this project and he looked forward to hearing of the future successes that will be achieved through the partnership approaches which brought about the delivery of this facility.

The Chair of the Social and Community Strategic Policy Committee, Councillor Dermot Looney highlighted how this project would have the potential to add value to the other community development work being undertaken in the locality.

Pat Lynch, speaking on behalf of the Community Council, thanked the Council for their efforts in securing the premises for the use of the Community Council and looked forward to further developing the services which the Community Council would now be able to offer to the local community. He said it was a proud day for the Palmerstown Community.
