Support for events in your community…€15,000 of grant offers under the Community Tourism Diaspora Initiative 2015
South Dublin County Council launched the Community Tourism Diaspora Initiative in March, 2015, in association with Failte Ireland and IPB Insurance.
The project is aimed at providing support to community based events that involved overseas visitors in order to carry through the legacy of The Gathering in 2013 and beyond.
It is also aimed at fostering the growth of strong county Diaspora networks on the basis that Diaspora relationships are rooted in ‘people and place’.
The closing date for applications has passed and following evaluation of the applications received by South Dublin County Council, grant offers totaling €15,000 have been issued to events scheduled for the coming months. Funding will be paid after the events take place and upon confirmation of the final numbers of overseas visitors.
While the 2015 process has closed this Initiative will re-open again in early 2016. The application process is very simple and we would encourage groups to start considering an application for 2016 for events that meet the criteria and attract overseas visitors back to Ireland.
While the closing date for 2015 has passed, application forms and details of the 2016 scheme will be available on our website at www.sdcc.ie early next year.
