Press Release

An Evening with Glória (Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir) Venue: Civic Theatre, Tallaght Date: Sunday 23 November 2014

South Dublin County Council are extremely excited to introduce An Evening with Gloria (Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir). This event will take place on Sunday 23rd November in the Civic Centre, Tallaght, Dublin 24 at 8pm. The event is a fundraiser for Marriage Equality.

Glória, Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir, has a wide ranging repertoire; from musicals to madrigals and from classical to camp. The songs are chosen sometimes to surprise, sometimes to challenge, and always to entertain! The choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

They were established in 1995 to provide a safe and comfortable space for gays and lesbians to meet and sing together and to promote a positive image of gay and lesbian life in Ireland.

Today the choir has over 60 members and a wide-ranging performance programme throughout the year which includes a Christmas concert in St. Patrick’s Cathedral and singing for good causes.

Quote from Moninne Griffith, Marriage Equality

“We are delighted that South Dublin County Council and our friends in Gloria, Dublin’s Lesbian and Gay Choir are hosting an evening of song on November 23rd in the Civic Theatre to raise funds to support our public awareness work on why marriage equality matters in Ireland. Ireland is ready for marriage equality! 74% of Irish people want to change the law so that loving, committed same-sex couples and families can enjoy the same protection as any other married couple or family. We hope that everyone in South Dublin remembers to register to vote before the November 25th deadline, because if you are not registered to vote, you won’t be able to vote for marriage equality in next year’s referendum and be part of history!”

Quote from Mayor Fintan Warfield, South Dublin County Council

I am delighted to welcome Gloria, Dublin’s Lesbian & Gay Choir to the Civic Theatre for this concert in support of Marriage Equality and the upcoming referendum in 2015. As Mayor of South Dublin County, I see the concert as a highlight in the Council’s programme of events for Social Inclusion Week 2014, and is an opportunity to encourage as many people as possible to register to vote and support the ‘Yes’ campaign’.”
