Eco Week 2012 flying the South Dublin flag

Cllr Mick Duff deputised for Mayor Cllr Catriona Jones and launched Eco–week 2012, presenting certificates & prizes to winning students of the South Dublin County Council funded Garbo Productions Code Name Green Warp anti-litter Drama & recycled flag workshops on Tuesday 24^th April in the Council Chamber, Tallaght.

Cllr Duff said “This year the Eco-Week workshops and activities had a wide a range, from magic recycling shows, to creative recycling, to energy workshop, to composting and green business talks on increasing efficiencies and reducing costs.”

Cllr Duff continued “Also as part of the launch we saw the young people of the County getting involved in spreading an important anti-litter message, that “Its not cool to Litter” and that they are proud of where they live and that they want to keep it clean. The Anti-Litter earth patrol: code name green warp workshops were a great idea as they teach responsibility through creativity. The students explored the fact that they play a huge role in the future of keeping their county ‘litter free’ and looking after the environment.”

Sorcha O’Brien Environmental Awareness Officer said “Earlier this year over 1200 students from around South Dublin County took part in the Code Name Green Warp anti-litter Drama & recycled flag workshops from which 13 finalists were chosen to take part in the flag parade.The winners of the Code Name Green Warp anti-litter competition are as follows:
