MAKE A MOVE AT THIS YEARS ULTIMATE DANCE FESTIVAL
NOISEmoves Dance Festival 2012 is inviting youth dance groups to join amazing dancers on stage at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght this year to show their skill, talent and passion for dancing.
Special guest dance companies Dublin Youth Dance Company and Coisceim Creative Steps will return to the festival once again along with young dancers, to present an explosive mix of dance styles and techniques at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght.
NOISE Moves Dance Festival2012 takes place from April 20th – 22nd. It is host to another great programme of dance performances, film screenings and workshops dancers for young dancers, ages 13 to 25. The highlight of the weekend is on Sunday, April 22nd where young dancers working in all styles take the main stage of the Civic Theatre at 8pm.
Initiated in 2010 by South Dublin County’s Arts Office, NOISEmoves Dance Festival provides a platform for youth dance groups in South Dublin to perform in a professional setting. It is an opportunity for shared creativity and talent by encouraging different styles and originality as the performers all have a passion for dance!

This year’s festival includes dance film screenings from youth and professional dancers, choreographers and filmmakers on Friday, April 20th at 8pm as well as master classes in street and contemporary dance on Saturday, April 21st from 11am – 1pm both being held at RUA RED, South Dublin Arts Centre in Tallaght. The workshop includes a master class with Cathy Coughlan in contemporary dance and Kathy McGuiness in Street Dance. Participants of all levels will enjoy these classes which use a playful approach and choreographic tools to engage participants in creating collaborative choreography for contemporary dance as well as in developing styles in Jazz, Funk, and Hip Hop.

WORKSHOP FACILITATORS:
Cathy Coughlan is an independent Dance Artist and a professional member of Dance Ireland. She is currently Dance Artist in Residence at the Dunamaise Arts Centre and is supported by the Arts Council and Laois County Council.
In 1994 Cathy received two consecutive dance bursaries from the Arts Council to study full time as a professional dancer in Britain where she was given frequent performance opportunities and completed all major RAD/ISTD dance examinations to an Advanced level. In 2005 Cathy received a B.A. (Hons) in Fine Art from NCAD where her practice, deeply rooted in dance, primarily developed through video installation and performance. During this time she received training in collaborative/community arts practice through CREATE.
As a Dance/Visual Artist she has delivered projects/performances in association with Common Ground, CREATE, Focus Ireland, the Fatima Regeneration Project, Dunamaise Arts Centre (YES Scheme 2010), Dublin City Council, Laois County Council and Laois Partnership. In recent years she has worked as assistant choreographer to Philippa Donnellan (CoisCeim Broadreach) on a number of large scale performances with older people. Cathy continues to work for CoisCeim on a weekly basis facilitating dance workshops for people aged 50+.
Cathy is a qualified Ashtanga Yoga instructor and has an interest in developing a structure around community practice that stems from these movement systems. She is also a qualified Pilates instructor and has found this a useful tool when working with non vocational dancers. As a teacher she has worked for many Dublin based studios/organisations including Dance Theatre of Ireland, Dance Ireland, CoisCeim Dance Theatre, Yoga Dublin, VEC’s, the Elbowroom Studio's, Centre Studio's, Pilates Ireland, the National College of Ireland and more.
Cathy's practice is inclusive, collaborative and multidisciplinary as she believes that when we work organically we create a sustainable arts practice that serves both the artist and community equally.
Kathy McGuinness has a professional dance diploma from the College of Dance in Dublin and trained at the world renowned Pineapple Dance Studios in London and the influential Broadway Dance Centre in New York.
She has performed and choreographed for numerous stage productions at The Helix, Gaiety and Vicar Street as well as on RTE and TV3. Kathy has also danced for Natasha Hamilton from Atomic Kitten as well as ad campaigns for Reebok, Peter Mark and L'Oreal to mention a few. Most recently she has choreographer for Sony, Meteor and also worked as choreographer on RTE's The Model Scout with winner Tabeya Weyrauch. In 2006 Kathy founded 'Dance Masters-Choreographers Showcase' and went on to launch 'Dance Masters-Choreographer of the Year'. In November of 2011 she will host 'Dance Honours' Irelands first dance awards ceremony. www.dance-masters.com
