South Dublin County Council’s Recycle more this Christmas appeal is aimed at encouraging everyone to increase the amount they recycle this Christmas. The Mayor of South Dublin County, Cllr Catriona Jones said “Packaging alone adds 30% to the waste that is produced over the Christmas period. South Dublin County Council is encouraging everyone in the County to increase their efforts to recycle more Wrapping paper, Christmas cards, Glass bottles, Christmas trees, Batteries and WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment) this Christmas. There are lots of ways to recycle. I am also delighted to see the Christmas decoration competition for young people; I look forward to having a look at the results of this competition and the creative ideas that will result. I encourage all schools to partake in this competition.â€
Materials can be recycled at the following locations
· Bring banks: South Dublin County Council has 63 banks around the County
· Batteries recycling www.weeeireland.ie
· WEEE recycling: Clondalkin Community Recycling Initiative www.recycleit.ie
To encourage young people to consider the effective use of resources and take an active part in re-use and recycling South Dublin County Council has arranged a Christmas Decoration competition for all ages – see details below.
