Frances Fitzgerald TD, Minister for Children and Youth Affairs will open South Dublin County Council’s National Play day event on Sunday 3rd of July from 11am – 2pm in Corkagh Park, Clondalkin. There will be plenty of fun for all the family to enjoy – activities include face painting, arts and crafts, puppet show, creative play, messy play, bouncy castles and much much more!
The National Play Day Event is about celebrating play by providing children with safe but challenging opportunities to have fun. Children love playing, it comes naturally to them, they will do it anywhere and anytime, though they prefer and benefit from spending time playing outdoors.
Play is essential to the healthy development of children and young people – not just their physical development, but their social and cognitive development too.
This year’s event is taking place in the award winning Corkagh Park, one of the most important treasures to be found in South Dublin County. Corkagh Park offers to the public 300 acres of walks, natural beauty and wildlife in its open spaces and meadows. Facilities include five lakes, streams, a fishery, a visitor’s centre, GAA, rugby, soccer, cricket and baseball pitches with changing rooms, a pet farm, Victorian rose garden and two exciting playgrounds. Located only 8 miles from Dublin city centre, adjacent to the N7 Naas Road, with a bus service running along the side of the park and three car parks, Corkagh Park is readily accessible to locals and visitors to the area.
