PRESS RELEASE: Launch of Ireland’s Holi Festival 2011

On Wednesday 2nd March Deputy Mayor Councillor Cathal King, in the presence of D.Ramamoorthy, Councillor and  Deputy Head of Mission, from the Indian Embassy will launch the Festival of Colours aka Holi.  This is the most popular festival from South Asia to celebrate victory of good over evil and colours to brighten the life. Regardless of mythological explanation and spiritual significance, Holi stands for reaffirmation of hope, a renewed commitment to friendship and goodwill and celebration of the joys of life. There will be Performers in traditional dress.

The whole society comes together in harmony to strengthen the integration and bonding of the society regardless of region or race to celebrate the rich and vibrant festival of Holi that fills our festivity with colours and joy inviting the celebration of life. Colours denote energy, which carves strong emotional joy when the colours are flung into the air or when smeared on friends and loved ones as a symbol of oneness.

Festival of Colours Holi celebration is supported by South Dublin County Council, Social Inclusion Unit, Community Services Department. Everybody is welcome all to join into the aura of Holi festivities and share the vibrant culture

The Festival of Colours (Holi celebrations) will take place on the Belgard Road, adjacent to the Square, [beside McDonald’s], Tallaght, Dublin 24 on Saturday 19th March from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
