 Lecture Series on Teenage Issues at the County Library, Tallaght 

 

The County Library, Tallaght, is delighted to announce a series of seven lectures on various topics of relevance to teenagers which will take place on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm, commencing on Wednesday 27th October 

 

The talks are primarily for parents but are also relevant and appropriate for teachers and all who work with young people on a voluntary or statutory basis. The opening lecture of the series on Wednesday 27th October will address parenting and building positive relationships with teenagers with Ms Martina Newe, Director of HelpMe2Parent.  Other subjects which will be discussed throughout the series include suicide, drugs and eating disorders. Cyber safety will be addressed by a speaker from the National Parents Council who will deliver the National Centre for Technology in Education programme. The very current and controversial issue of teenage mental health will be covered by Dr. Claire Flahavan, Registrar in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Lucena Foundation: The series will conclude with a positive lecture on how we can help our young people delivered by Dr Tony Bates, the inspiring and well known Senior Clinical Psychologist, Irish Times columnist, Director of Headstrong and one of the authors of the National Mental Health Policy – a Vision for Change.
