South Dublin County Council listed for 8 awards in the Chambers Ireland 2010 Excellence in Local Government Awards.                                                                                                                  

Chambers Ireland has revealed its shortlist for the 2010 Excellence in Local Government Awards.

Making the announcement, Ian Talbot, chief executive of Chambers Ireland said the awards, which are held in association with the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government, provide a unique forum to showcase the symbiotic relationships that exist between businesses, chambers and local authorities.

“In these challenging times, all sectors must operate on a cost effective basis while providing excellent services,” he said. “We are delighted to be able to use these awards to showcase those local authorities providing optimal services to their stakeholders.”

 

South Dublin County Council has been shortlisted in the following categories:

Supporting Active Communities

·        South Dublin County Council – Link 2 B Active

·        South Dublin County Council – St. Marks Youth & Family Centre and CDI

 

Parks & Recreation

·        South Dublin County Council – Corkagh Regional Park, Corkagh Demesne

 

Supporting Tourism

·        South Dublin County Council – Bids Presentation Team, South Dublin County Tourism

 

Joint Local Authority Initiative

·        South Dublin County/Dublin City Councils – Green Pedestrian & Cycle Route Along Grand Canal

 

Innovation in Technology

·        South Dublin County Council – Connecting to the Past: Mapping South Dublin in Time

 

Outstanding Customer Service

·        South Dublin County Council – Jobot's Access All Areas

 

County/City Development Board of the Year

·        South Dublin County Council – Think Local

 

Commenting on the awards, Councillor Eamon Maloney, Mayor of South Dublin County said “I am delighted at the number of projects shortlisted in the Chambers Ireland awards 2010. South Dublin County Council has always been recognised as a Local Authority which produces projects of high quality using an interagency partnership approach and delivering excellent service”.

 

The awards ceremony takes place on Thursday 28 October in the Burlington Hotel Dublin.
