Mayor Mick Duff will officially launch ‘Making our Mark’ an intergenerational public art programme in County Library Tallaght on 15th April at 5.30pm

Making Our Mark is an intergenerational project aiming to promote active citizenship through the guided and structured use of public art. Over the past 8 weeks a group of women and teenagers from the Fettercairn area have worked together to develop an art piece incorporating “graffiti” art and gardening. This movable art piece demonstrates how creativity across the age spectrum can be harnessed to develop co-operative action and enhance participation as active citizens. The project was developed by a consortium comprising KEY, the Garda Youth Diversionary Project in Fettercairn, Tallaght Youth Service, Tallaght Community Arts Centre, Arts Office of SDCC and District Approach to Early School Leaving in Dodder Valley Partnership. Funding for the action was provided by the Environmental Awareness Section of South Dublin County Council.  It is hoped that this model of preventative action can be shared and replicated with other groups in the county.

The resulting art piece will be launched by Mayor Mick Duff in the County Library on 15th April at 5.30pm. I hope you may be able to attend.
