TALLAGHT QUALITY BUS CORRIDOR ENHANCEMENTS - N81 – HARD SHOULDER CONVERSION
Pursuant to the requirements of the above, notice is hereby given of the proposal to provide the following scheme: Tallaght Quality Bus Corridor Enhancement (The N81) from Fortunestown Road to Old Bridge Road junction.
The Tallaght QBC Enhancements (The N81) forms part of the QBC Network linking existing Tallaght QBC, The Firhouse/Ballycullen QBC, The Green Route QBC and the Outer Ring Road QBC (Cookstown Road). The scheme consists of approximately 2.5km of QBC in the inbound direction (to Dublin City) and approximately 4.3km in the outbound direction (towards Tallaght). The sections of bus lanes proposed are as follows:
Inbound: Approximately 2.5km of bus lane between Cookstown Road and Tallaght Road/Avonmore Road Roundabout to tie in with existing bus lane.
Outbound: (Approximately 4.3km of bus lane)
- From Old Bridge Road to the Spawell Roundabout,
- M50 to Killinarden Way,
- Cookstown Road to Killinarden Heights.
The Scheme will provide considerable benefits for public transport users on the route as follows:
- Provide a direct route from Tallaght to Dublin city centre with high levels of priority.
- Allow a quick and reliable bus services capable of providing consistent reliable journey times and headways.
- Integrate and link with the existing Tallaght QBC, The Firhouse/Ballycullen QBC, The Green Route QBC and the Outer Ring Road QBC (Cookstown Road).
- As the number of general traffic lanes remains unchanged, there is no significant impact on journey times for general traffic.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy at:
(a) South Dublin County Council Offices, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24 between the hours of 9:00 am – 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.00am - 4.30pm on Friday (Inspection and purchase),
(b) County Library, County Hall, Tallaght, Dublin 24 between the hours of 9.45am-8.00pm Monday to Thursday and 9.45am - 4.30pm Friday and Saturday(inspection only).
From Wednesday 9th December 2009 to Friday 5th February 2010.
Written submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing before 4.30 p.m. on Friday 19th February 2010 to: -
