After a major operation involving the Council and the Gardai, five llamas and three goats that had caused serious disruption on the M50 motorway yesterday afternoon were rounded up and impounded by South Dublin County Council. This course of action was necessary in order to avert a potentially serious incident on the motorway and in the interests of public safety.

The animals were transferred to a holding pound in Summerhill, County Meath which is operated by the Council’s contractors. The owners of the animals were invoiced for a contribution to the Council’s costs in rounding them up.

The Council was informed this morning by the pound contractors that the animals were missing from the pound.

The Gardai in Summerhill have been informed of the situation. South Dublin Council is offering any assistance required.
