Creative and Innovative Approaches for Learning
South Dublin County Councils Arts Office is holding a professional development day for secondary school teachers and home school and transition year coordinators. The aim is to explore creative approaches for learning. Thank you to Firhouse Community College for hosting the event.
When: Friday, September 11, 2009; 9am 4:30pm
Where: Firhouse Community College, Firhouse, Dublin 24
Register by: Friday, Sept 4th at noon.
Aim: To demonstrate practical ways that arts practice can be an aid to teaching for learning and for the curriculum.
Who: Secondary School Teachers and Home School Liaison and Transition Year Coordinators. You do not need to be an art teacher to take part. The day is for teachers from across the curriculum.
What can be gained?
- Participants will be introduced to creative learning techniques via an active, hands-on workshop that will be applicable to their own lessons back at their schools;
- Participants will get a packet with ideas and usable lesson plans that they can take away to use and adapt to their own lessons; and
- Participants will get the opportunity to discuss and work through some of the ideas with colleagues.
