Clondalkin teens set to launch Heritage Weeks Creative Writing Project on Thursday 27th August in Clondalkin Library at 7.00 pm
This project was run over four weeks during the summer months and participantswere given information packs with information about the history and heritage of Clondalkin village. As Clondalkin village is a very historic village the idea was that local teens would learn more about their local area and use this knowledge as inspiration to get a chance to develop their writing skills.
With the aid of three facilitators, Niamh Bagnell, Colm Keegan and Brian Kirk (all of whom are locally involved in writing and creative writing projects), theyhad a forum for discussing life in Clondalkin today, and developing their writing skills. The teens produced short pieces of work, some haiku and other poetry. The work is to be launched on Thursday night, with the participants reading aloud their work to the invited guests. The material will also be on display in Clondalkin Library for the month of September for history and heritage month.
