South Dublin County Libraries celebrate the History and Heritage of the county as part of National Heritage Week 2009.

Starting with National Heritage Week, and running into October, South Dublin Libraries have organised a wide range of activities to celebrate the history and heritage of South Dublin County.So if you'd like advice on how to trace your family tree, go on a walking tour of historic Clondalkin, listen to memories of South Dublin past, learn about the history of the GAA or partake in one of the many other heritage activities taking place across our branches, you can check out the full details in our History and Heritage 2009 brochure.

National Heritage Week which runs from 22nd- 30th August is a celebration of Irish and cultural heritage. Every county in Ireland will host lots of free events suitable for the young and not so young during the course of the week. Over a 1000 free heritage events are planned around the country and a full list of all events taking place during the week is available on www.heritageweek.ie .

National Heritage Week is coordinated in Ireland by the Heritage Council in conjunction with the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, and is part of European Heritage Days, which is celebrated in over 40 countries across Europe.
