FIRST ANNUAL SHOW OPENS ON MONDAY
The selections of RUA REDs open submission are exhibited through summer.
A dulux swatch installation, a bottomless boat and some unusual clocks are all on display as part of RUA REDs first, annual Summer Show. All of the pieces were chosen from a call for submissions in June which over 150 artists applied to.
The show has a light mood which aims to introduce the viewer to the sense of adventure and fun that the new centre has. RUA REDs director, Karen Phillips said,
We wanted to avoid a gloomy show especially in the summer. We were very excited to be looking at work which was bright, adventurous and well executed. We really hope that visitors get an idea of the personality of RUA RED and that we set a high standard for future summer shows.
The exhibition also showcases print, painting, photography and sculpture. Selected artists include Paul Hickey, Julie Merriman, John Jones and Helen Hughes.
The Summer Show runs from 7th July to 22nd August from Monday Saturday.
The preview is on Monday 6th July from 6pm- 8pm.
